Abu Zafar Institute of Medical Sciences was established in 2006 and formally inaugurated in November, 2008 by former Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
The Institute has two sections of teaching and training; the Diploma Section and the Degree Section, Diploma Section is situated at Koohi Goth Hospital Premises, Koohi Goth, Karachi and the Degree Section is situated at Malir Township, Malir Kalaboard, main National Highway, Karachi.
The Institute is being run under the umbrella of Zafar and Atia Foundation Charitable Trust and also has collaboration with the Pakistan National Forum on Women's Health (PNF).
It is Affiliated with the Jinnah Sindh Medical University for Allied Health Sciences Programs and with Dow University of Health Sciences for Nursing Programs. It is also accredited by Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) Islamabad and Sindh Nurses Examination Board, Karachi for Nursing Programs.
Abu Zafar Institute of Medical Sciences is well-equipped to provide Theory teaching and Practical training. It has Modren Skills Laboratory, Microbiology & Pathology Laboratory, Library with latest text & reference books and Journals according to the requirement of syllabus and curriculum of HEC and the Universities. It has Auditorium, lecture halls and Digital Learning Resource Center (Computer Lab) etc.
The Institution has its own Hospitals namely Koohi Goth Hospital, Koohi Goth and Atia General Hospital, Malir Karachi for the clinical teaching and practice.Besides this we are affiliated with the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease (NICVD). These Hosptials are also for the purpose of Clinical rotations / practical training of students of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing.
Abu Zafar Institute was established by Mr. PROF. DR. SYED TIPU SULTAN in 2006. The institute is run under the umbrella of Zafar and Atia Foundation Charitable Trust.
